Well, thought I would let everyone know that I did go to Fork this last weekend (very short trip unfortunately)and here's the deal. Fished Saturday afternoon until storm came in and caught one two pounder. Got on the water about 8:30 Sunday and fished hard all day. Caught a 3# about 10:00am and nothing until about 4:30 when I picked up a 4# and then a 5# about 5:15 to end the day. Fished mostly in White Oak and found that I did much better than most. Went out for a bit Monday morning but got pretty windy and thought I should get back home anyway.

However, Lake Fork............like Arnold says................."I'll be back!"

Think I'll wait until end of April or first part of May so if you guys go, you might warn them hawgs that I'm coming!

What were you throwing and how deep were you fishing? I'll be there on Saturday (won't the crowds be fun!) and I'm not sure what this cold front is doing to them, but every little bit of info will help!!

Dewey,

Looks like low temps in the 30s this weekend! Fishing should be interesting. I thought I was in Texas!! I might have to wear a jacket for the first time in 3 weeks! See ya tomorrow.

Well Dewey, I hate to say it but the honest feller that I am, I must admit that I was using live waterdogs. I did try artifical some but didn't get any takers on it.

From what I saw and heard while I was there, the few fish that were caught on artifical were in 1-2' of water. They were either TX-rigging or carolina rigging plastic lizards or ring frys and pitching it into the grass and then SLOWLY moving it off to the edge and then letting it set. Some were also using flukes with a #4 or #5 hook (no other weight)and fishing it basically the same way. With the fronts moving through like they are though, I would think it would be a good idea to try "creature type" baits like the "Hoo Daddy" or "Brush Hog" (in Blue/Black) and fish further out in the 5-12' water around the brush and trees. That's just my opinion though so whether you use it or not, GOOD LUCK and I'll be looking for you on the Sharelunker list !

(Feel free to email me if you want more of my advice.....for what it's worth)

Dewey,

If I were you I would fish the same area I told you about, but fish a bit deeper 5-8 ft... if the temp warms up, then go in a bit 2-4 ft.... I bet deep diver crank baits(bomber flatA) in the deep water and shallow runner (foot loose, bandit)and plasticks in the shallow.will work.... good luck, let us know how you do.......

Waterdogs were $1.25 to $1.50 each but from what I have been told, nobody has them. Fortunately, I have a place here and managed to catch about 100 of them.

There is a "waste-water lagoon" that has them in it and we catch them in the pump station part of it. Not much fun but at least we can get some and that $1.50 each provides us some motivation.

Thanks for the help guys. I'll be staying with the artificials, but I'll let you know how Bob G. and I do.
