It is spots.....The best way to tell the difference is Sauger's have spots on the fins. Sauger's also don't get as big, a 20" Sauger is generally thought of as a trophy.

Yes, definitely not a sauger, as you state-it is too darn big and no darn spots; I should have pulled that from my mental and actual RFI formulation. Wally Walleye was our ID as well [reason I labeled photo as Dan Walleye]. As you look at the fish it lacks a lot of the standard walleye coloring traits.
