I would like to add a fish finder in the console area of my (new) Nitro 188 Sport. Has anyone with this boat done this? I'd be curious how you located it (doesn't appear to be too many good options), without uglifying the boat too much. Thanks.

I'm sorry, Alan. I know you're asking a serious question here and I'm poking fun..... The truth is that I've never been near one of the newer Sport models..... On just about any boat though, unless it's got a window designed into the dash or front panel, the fish finder is going to stick out. Yeah, it is kinda ugly..... But there is no "universal" casing design for fish finders so it makes it pretty difficult to build a boat around their shape.

Alan,

Bob G. should chime in here soon. He has the 185 fish n ski. I don't remember where his fish finder is mounted though. Anyway, if he doesn't catch this thread, go to the memeber profiles under Vermont and look up Bob Gabriel and send him an e-mail. He has an awesome digital camera and can send you pics of how his is mounted.

Good luck,

Marke

He has it on the bow. After looking at his console, it will be challenging but can be done. There's very little room for a finder there, unless you use a Ram mount. And even then keeping it out of the way will be tough. Really consider ALL aspects of your day on the water before deciding where to place it. You don't want to have to move it and leave unsightly holes behind. Good luck. I know Bob has some good ideas about how to sneak one in.

That's right.... All he has on his console is small digital readout that tells him depth when he's driving.

Thanks Rob
