My first real trip out in the Targa 17 WT and it was great! Went to lake Norris, TN for some striper fishing!

Boat performed perfectly! The Minnkota AP 55 even though it is only 12 Volt did great, one day had 17mph winds all day and it never slowed down!

What a great boat!

You may want to repost your question so others will see it. I don't know much about motor guides other than my Dad has one on his Triton and after this trip he is looking for a minnkota.

The one thing that still plagues me with my boat (Targa 18 - 2000 model) is getting blown all over the water. Just a light breeze, we're moving. Decent breeze (5-8 mph), big nuiscance. More than 8mpg - getting difficult. More than 12mph, get out the anchor.

Other than that, the boat is very nice. Still thinking about a 'regular' bass boat though.

Sounds like your TM is on constant high setting, should be able to start at the lowest setting and find the speed thats best at that time.

That's GREAT!! I got a Targa 17 last September but only got it out once before winter arrived here in Kansas City. The wife makes fun of me for sitting in my boat while it is parked in the garage! Can't wait to get it out again. Is your trolling motor the Minnkota Power Drive with autopilot? Also, how was the striper fishing?

yeah u r right work sure does get in the way of fishing....did u all find any stripers wearing a pair of glasses...lol...glad u like the boat now all u need is a place on cherokee for it ....see ya tim
