We finally got a good hard frost last night with temps in the mid 20's! Today was a high of 45 and we have a noreaster on schedule for tomorrow that should dump some much needed rain on us. Then this weekend SNOW flurries! This is the weather we normally get in October. Good for hunting and better for fall bass bite. But alas, I don't get to enjoy the fishing. I'll stick in the woods. I even got to fire up the fireplace last night while watching Monday night football, and I made it through the whole game! A coupld of ice cold beers, Monday night football, a cozy fire, a scantily clad wife on the couch next to you, your best bird dog at your feet at the end of the couch.......it just doesn'g get any better! LOL Now, where to fit fiberglass into this! LOL Anyhow, come on up folks the huntin's fine! Jim, you are set for a great weekend as long as the cooler weather holds. Turn over is not far off with temps like this. The lake is steaming good!

Fire? Cold? Snow flurries? in October??

OH that's right you northern GLASS boys wouldn't want to go out and hurt your precious boat in the cold weather!!! LOL

I know, here goes Rob naked into the woods for the snow dance!! Bring it on Big Dog!!!

Ahhhhh Trep,

Some of that Northern wisdom has migrated South. Remember, I live in Virginia. My home lake has just finished turnin over and the Stripers and Bucketmouths and Crappie (always will be pr. Crawpe to me) are just puttin on the fall feed bag!! All the lake lice, cruisers, tubers, skiers, tourists and so on, have gone away. Now the real fishin starts. YEEEEEEEHAWWWW Paint my glass @ss gold and lemme out!!

Ain't nuthin gonna hurt our glass boats nohow anyways! We just need a few months of hunting to let the healing happen on our thumbs from lippin all dem bassus and are tennis elbow and shoulders from setting hooks and fighting fish over .5 lbs. You know, the ones you READ about! If I get a fish on that doesn't muster over 2lbs, I try to shake him off before anybody sees! LOL Or I cut my line and say I had on a big un that just snapped me off. LOL Sure don't bring dem lil minners to the boat. But I suppose if you consider a 4lb striper big......well, a 4 lb smallies must be HUGE! LOL I've never caught a striper Trep, cut a customer of mine does a lot in NJ and he tells me they shake 'em off if they're under 20lbs! LOL His fish EAT 4lbers! but hey, if I was you, I'd take a 4lb anything......anyway I could get it. After all, tin drivers can't be choosers! And STOP thinking about me naked! gives me the heebie jeebies!

Let's see Rob - "let the healing happen on our thumbs from lippin all dem bassus and are tennis elbow and shoulders from setting hooks and fighting fish over .5 lbs. " Yup you heard that Boys and Girls, Rob needs a few months to recover from his HUGE .5 lb fish!!!! BWWWWHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!

Even my 3 yearold has gotten a few 2 lbers this year!!
Eli%20and%20bass.jpg

I was implying that you seldom catch them over that size. Hence the the 4lber! But I don't expect you to really understand! LOL

Gee the little one does pretty good. Musr take after the wife, we all know TRepman can't catch anything like that. Hey Rob, looking forward to that weekend of bird hunting. if you like though I can always drag the Avalanche along and we could spend an after noon catching hogs.

Dangitt Rob, I'm gonna come up there and do some buck hunting with you sometime. I love the snow, but haven't seen it in over 15 years. steve

Jim, sounds good, but don't bother with the boat, quietly (I don't mind the occasional ride in tin, especially one that tries desperately to emmulate glass) BUT the fishing is horrible that time of year except for lakers and salmon and you run the risk of a severe cold front that could destroy a lower unit on the ride home with water in it! But I have you guys booked in. You're still more than welcome to stay at the house, it isn't big, but it's dry and warm, the BBQ always works, fireplace will be crackling, and cold beer in the fridge.

Oh and I forgot, I'm going to give you a BIG discount on price being a friend and fellow member and all. But as far as my wife's concerned, it's a free trip. She doesn't know I'm getting paid. She's always right on top of all my money. When I try to surprise her for Christmas, I have to get sneaky. I have stashed all my tip money so far this year. The kids are going to have a HUGE surprise Christmas morning that even Michelle doesn't know about. Plus, she's getting her new living room set she's wanted for a while. Courtesy of all my "tackle" I keep saving money for!

Toxic, my dog was hillarious last night. He alywas has to be right near me. Like he can't get close enough. Well we were on the couch in front of the fireplace. It was way too hot for him, but he had to be near me. So there he say, panting and whimpering. Then he'd pace, go to some cool corner, sigh, lay down and look at me as if to say, "hey, it's a lot nicer over here. Won't you please come over here, so we can hang out and I don't melt!" LOL Then when he had cooled off, he'd come back over and do it all over again. This went on for about 3-4 hours! He ain't the brightest pumpkin on the porch, but he hunts well! LOL

Rob, I know the routine. Mine LOVES the heat from the fire but overheats fast. I'm surprised you let him in the house, most hunters don't like to mix the two. Weimariners on the other hand have no undercoat like most dogs and even though I've had mine in partially frozen water, I can't kennel him outside. My wife always complains that she can't tell who snores more at night....me or the dog. And as for the toxic discharge, I gotta admit he's got me beat. Well......Almost.

TOXIC

I've been running dogs for years Tox, and the trainer that tells you a good hunting dog stays outside and is not a pet, is full of it as much as Trep! LOL OK, if you have a kennel and/or ranch, with say 12 dogs and simply cannot bring them all in that's one thing. BUT for the average guide or hunter who has 1 or 2 dogs, a good pet will be twice the hunter that a "robot" drone dog is. If your dog is called "dog #6" you don't have a personal bond with the animal. My dog hunts to please me and knows what I want. He follows hand commands all the better because he knows my mannerisms as much as I know his. I know when he's birdy, and I know when he's just goofin off or tired. The best bird dogs I have ever owned or seen were all also close pets. Further, I pitty to poor idiot that EVER tries to come in my house at night, or tries to harm my wife or kids with Zeke and Duke around! He will meet the business end of a German Short hair!

Rob,

I agree, I think the dog works more and better if he/she feels like they are part of the team or family. I have a couple of friends who took Labs to the National trials and scored big!! They were both "Family" dogs as well as "Field" dogs. Funny thing is, when I take my pooch into really cold water because of the lack of an undercoat and their strange coloring in the first place, he turns pink. I also have to be veeeeery careful workin him during deer season (they run deer with dogs here) even with blaze vest and collar, I've had idjuts take pot shots at him. Now that'll get my dander up in a hurry.

TOXIC

If somebody shoots my dog, they better hope I'm NOT armed! Just get the bail money ready!

It REALLY tics me off because you KNOW these idiots can't see what they are shooting at if they are poppin rounds at a dog in a blaze vest and huge collar...now I've never needed bail money but a few well placed shots in rapid progression usually gets the point across rather quickly. I dropped a giant dead branch on a guy one day. He shot twice.. Trigger happy fools!!

TOXIC

If you're using beeper collars too, then they either have to be totally deaf, or just intentionally shooting.
