I thought I'd invite my Dad down from VA to help break in the TV-18 I bought in January, and in the process, let him know that after 25+ years, there was a new sheriff in town. We caught enough crappie and white bass to fill the freezer, but in this family, the true measure of manhood is who can land the biggest and mostest B-A-S-S. The weather was iffy for six days and the competition was tight--I had him on the ropes early on...

However, being the competitor that he is, Pop wasn't on the ropes for long. After many 14 inchers and yearlings, he finally found his rhythm. These photos only show a fraction of the knock out blow. Winner and still Champeeeeeen...

Nice fish! I have the same problem! I know I can out fish my dad, he just gets lucky every single time we go!;)

Come on Mike. Admit it. You just LET him catch the bigger fish....Right??

Glad to hear you both had a great time..

Good fish Mike. Glad you got to break in the new boat with your dad. Looks like the ole man can still put 'em in the boat when the champeeeenship is on the line!!!!! How do you like the boat?

John, you hit the nail on the head. He's gettin old, so I have to boost his confidence every now and then to keep him coming back for more! The TV-18 is outstanding! Not too bad on gas, room for all my junk, handles the rough stuff, and with a Merc 115, gets me there about as fast as I care to get there (at this point anyway). As an added bonus, my wife and two year old daughter love it as well. Ain't life grand? My dad was quite impressed as well. He has a 2000 Pro Team 185. I helped him break that in on Kerr Reservoir in Va last year(draw). He liked the extra width and power on the TV18, but I don't think he's trading his in any time soon...

Let him win..... BS!

Mike, your father and I are likely about the same age..... And, in 50+ years, we've learned a thing or two..... One is how to catch fish! The other is that, every once and a while, we let you kids out do us..... We know how much we enjoy the sport and just figure that it'll keep your interest up if we allow you to win once in awhile!

My father is 78 now and I've taken him fishing a number of times..... When I was younger, he was a workaholic and never took the time to fish - even with me..... But we've found that this is one thing that we can do together these days and have a great time!

Keep taking him out! And, if you have kids - TAKE THEM, TOO! OFTEN!

God bless!

me!

Father and Son battle? I'm real sorry to tell you this, but your Dad just played you! LOL! Is there anything better then a Father and Son in a boat catching fish. Keep it up Mike, you know these are times that you'll both remember your life time. And keep kickin' his butt Dad!

Mike,

Congratulations on your new boat. You and your dad caught some nice fish it looks like. The good season is just beginning, maybe you can deliver the knockout blow to him on another trip!

-Jeff

Nice fish Mike, but being a Dad myself with three boys ranging from 17 to 21 they know there place once in the boat, I'm still the Captain...LOL..... Again Mike, nice fish & may you and your Dad have many more enjoyable days to fish together....

That's great! Nice fish. I can't wait until my boy and I can duke it out on the water, but he'll never beat me! LOL Hey Mike, hang in there, he'll have an off day. Any day on the water with your dad, everybody wins!
