While fishing the Delta with Tom. We came around a corner onto the Stackton Main Chanel and this is what we saw. I don't know about you guys but to see a tanker in the chanell with these little 20' ski boats running around it was new to me. What I didn't realize was that they put out very little wake moving dowm the chanel at 5MPH. I think the ski boats were creating a bigger wake then it was.

Now I know what you guys on the river systems were talking about..

The barges on the Mississippi put out almost no wake under normal conditions as well. But if the Captain is fighting a heavy load, 20+ barges and a strong wind..... Watch out! He cranks those big diesels up and lets them rip! The turbulance from the props will get you!

me!

On the St. Lawrence. Not so much on Champlain anymore. The big 200' USCG cutters are what I can't stand. Those bad boys chug along at like 15 knots and throw a good 4 foot roller at you! The STINKIN coast guard! Go figure. For a minute there, I thought that was Ken's new presidential fishing platform!

Saw a bigger one than that puttin out an 8 ft wake, It was haulin natual gas up the chesapeake bay and had a 20 knot cross wind. He almost swamped the 24 ft parker we were in.

Must have been funny to see our expressions when 2000 gallons of water came in the boat.

Even ships like that if hauling a load or still carring ballast can push/displace a large amount of water. I know, I could have walked inder my boat one day on the ST Lawrence

River. Not pretty when your looking at the sky. YE HA !!!!
