Lost a good day to fish today. Drop the boat in the water went to crank it over and it would not start due to flooding. This is the first tank (12gals) with a quart of oil in for break in. I'm down to about three gals left but it seems like it's getting harder to start. Do you think by adding gas I could dilute the oil and have less fouling?

Byn the way it's a new PT 175 with a Merc 50.

Bob Is that the same way I should be starting my 1989 60? If so you have just done me a great favor I struggle with mine on cold start because I thought that was a (CHOKE) and while holding it in while cranking and trying to keep running it would explain why it is always loaded it up and puts out so much smoke. Thanks A Ton, Bruce

Great advice here and I learned something, However I feel real stupid because it did not start because the lanyard switch was only half way up, that's after I spent $36 for new plugs (3). There has to be a equal to the stock NGK plug for less. Anyways so the enricher is not a choke and only push it in for about 1-2 seconds right?

The advice of not priming the bulb until the motor is in the vertical is right on. I used to have a lot of trouble starting. I would always pump the bulb up while it was in the tilted up position before I backed down the ramp. Since following Bob's advice form an earlier post I haven't had a tenth of the problems starting as I used to.

Bob's one of the most informative people on the baord. Thaks Bob for all of your help.

Thanks again Bob, I can not wait to hit the water Wed am and do it right for the first time...Bruce
