"Forgotten Lake" couldn't have been a better title. I'm sure my neighbors here and to the NW haven't forgotten about it! We've got a handful of lanes to access Lanier, but Hartwell has ZERO! The days of pulling drinkable water are numbered and the COE sits on their rear and twiddles their thumbs. It's past a shame and is a serious outrage. Something has to change with these numbnuts contolling our watersheds down here.

We've has a similiar problem with our South Texas lakes, so hang in there. I sometimes think the people in charge of the water have to pass a stupid test before they can accept the position.

wow, thats unfreakign real! Lots of water gone....maybe in the long run, once it fills back up, it will help the fishing again? Any idea what is happening to the fishery now?

If I had a choice between ending the drought and pulling the .gov's hand off the spigot, I'd go the spigot route every time. Twice on Sunday.

They were asked repeatedly by various interest groups, going back several years, not to draw down the lake during the winter unless there were serious potential flood threats. They did anyway. The lake could easily be six to eight feet higher right now, had they simply listened to us ***** civilians. We'd have working ramps and marinas, instead of people closing up shop, going out of business, and the entire region suffering the consequences.

But what do we know?

send up a water truck or hundred. We are under a flood warning. three inches of rain forecast, as soon as the ice storm passes. last couple years we have had just the opposite problems here.
