Got to spend yesterday afternoon putting a new trailer jack on the boat. Decided to pull her out of the sideyard where when it was warm and wet the jack wheel sunk about 2 inches into the grass/mud (yes, I usually put it on a board but I was planning to get it out again soon). Got her hooked to the truck and when I went to lower the tongue, it got to the point where it was pulling itself out of the frozen ground. Grunt, grunt pull, pull and it came free but when I went to lower it.....no go. Ran to the trailer shop and they told me that yeah, it could be fixed but not worth the time/wait or $ for parts.

Word up!!

Here is another one for ya... My previous boat,, I was backing in the driveway and jack-knifed the trailed and broke the piece to crank the wheel down on the front of the trailer.. well.. had to get in wifes car and go to west marine to purchase new one,, get home, install, crank wheel down to take trailer off back of truck,,, standing there admiring my work and ... the assembly starts tilting in.. needless to say it was a fire drill to pick up the tounge and set it on back of bumper before it snapped... I installed the darn thing backwards...

Should have read the directions....lessed learned...

If the trailer has a part break, isn't that justification to buy an entire new trailer with a new boat attached?

Tox, please help this Texan out... what's frozen ground? I've heard of frozen margaritaas, and some big enough to put a boat in, but can't imagine not taking it off the trailer first.

No kiddin' Snowman....Believe me I wanna forget all about snow!! Usually pretty lucky here in VA...for the last 5 years, I have had to shovel once or twice. Key was that it sunk in before it froze....Un-Froze....and now hopefully it will be over for this winter. I can take the cold so usually my rig is only down for 2 or 3 weeks per year.

Mike..C'mon down!! whenever you are ready. I'm going to pull my rig down to Sturgeon Creek this next weekend and have them do a few things, then she'll be ready to run. I'm going to spend a LOT of time on the water this year and you are welcome anytime. I want a banner year so that I can kick off MY guide service in addition to Teddy's. Time for me to drum up some real business on my own and the only way to do that is to prove you got it!!

Toxic - do you have a web page for your own guide service? I've been to Teddy's.

Have you looked at the Omaha weather? Feel fortunate. I'm keeping my dogs inside because I can't find their doghouse.

David,

Nope, right now I am under exclusive contract to Teddy and all that I am resides on his page LOL!!. I will get my own up and running in the future but have to negotiate with TC. He already agreed to link my page from his so, that's a start. Got a logo in the works and will badge the new truck (still negotiating) with it. Got a huge order in from my SPRO/Gamakatsu...banners, catalogs, stickers, etc. It all takes patience!! ......and hard work.....and luck.....and time.....and skill.
