Help me out here. I think the outboard manufactures have to reduce the pollutants in the outboard exhausts by 70% by 2006.

I was told that the 2-cycles on the water prior to that time will be okay but no more heavy polluting two cycles will be manufactured or sold.

Does anyone know what effect does that law will have on the 2-cycle engines we have now? I assume nothing but you know what assuming means.

My understanding is that it won't affect the 2 strokes that are currently owned, my understanding is that the only affect it will have is that no more carburated 2 strokes will be manufactured after that.

What I have heard is is does not apply to anything already in operation now, but the new stuff will have to meet e.p.a standards and folks this also includes you lawn mowers, chain saws and anything else that burns any form of fossile fuel?..Bruce

Thanks for the insight guys. Looks like we all see it the same way. Hope the state or Federal governments don't goof things up.
