On Saturday, I noticed that my trolling motor on my Targa seemed to get a mind of it's own, if my foot wasn't firmly down on the pedal. It wasn't windy, so the water was fairly calm. Usually, I will put my motor on a 1 or 2 speed, and constant mode going down a bank. On Saturday, almost as soon as I would take my foot off, it would start bending to the right.

I haven't had a chance to look at the motor as yet (standard Motor Guide long shaft that comes standard on the Targa's), but is there any adjustment that can be made to 'tighten it down' somewhat? I don't want it to be hard to control, but then again I don't want it walking all over the place. This is the first time that I've noticed this behavior.

Yep, needs adjustment. I have to get to mine as well, does the same thing.

Hey me too ...

I heard there is an adjusment under (inside) the pedal. Mine is the Pro Series 43lbs that came with the PT175 SE, I opened it but I don't see nothing. There seem to be an ajusment for the range but that's all.

Very hard to keep straight.

on my MK it is a screw under the pedal that u adjust for tension. you can reach it by going under the pedal from the front.

You learn something new everyday! Thanks for the post and the answers. I have been trying to figure this out for about a week.

any tension adjustment. The motor just flops around and goes where it will. My Brute 767 falls into this sorry catagory. Lesson learned, next time Minn Kota Maxxum for sure!!

Tite Lines!!

Try a MG Tour edition, I have run one for three years and it is smooth as silk.
