Anyone else had problems with the MotorGuide model 9MP670JZ1 trolling motors. Mine cooked the motor without blowing the 15 amp fuses or kicking the 50 amp breaker switches. It just started slowing down and died. Checked everything from the batteries back with a multi meter. 26 volts to the foot pedal switch. When you key the switch on the foot pedal dead fault, goes to zero. Checked other end of switch everythings good till it hits the coil. Is this common or just a defective motor. Looking for Help?

does this have a high speed bypass switch? if so does it run then. open up the head and check the circuit board.

also make sure the speed control pot is working. it should be around 200 ohms in high and around 5k ohms in low

Yes it has the high speed by-pass, but know it still doesn't work on any setting.

Just received my new trolling motor today. OUCH

Now need to get this otherone sent off. I checked continuety through all the switches with the multimeter. All were good. The only place power doesn't go through is the electric motor itself. Dead Short I believe one of the armatures came or broke loose and is shorting out the motor. What ever it's a Motorguide problem not mine now. I will send it out to their authorized repair shop next week.
