Fishing plans for this morning got ruined on the river due to severe weather last night.

Took alittle time this morning to make some repairs to some Rapala crankbaits. Have been swithing to the triple-grip trebles on some and trying to make repairs where trebs have worn through the topcoat finish and underlayment foil down into the balsa wood. Used the old ladies clear coat fingernail polish to seal over the balsa wood for now. Might be a good temporary fix.

Do any of you guys who make your own lures know exactly what the correct top finish is? Where are you getting it from? I would just a well like to get the right stuff.

I know it sounds anal to care about your crankbaits that much but, these bait are my go to baits and have proven themselves over and over again.

I fish the heck out of some Bandits, and think the treble hook style they use has the stock hooks on Rapalas, Bombers, Storms, etc. beat. I've been slowly changing the hooks out.

Use the Devcon 2 ton they sell at Wall World. The pros use the slow setting one (not the 5 minute). Me personally I had good luck with clear fingernail polish or clear nail hardner. If you want to add flake let me know and I know a pretty good trick for getting it on even.
