I've been a big fan of Google's search engine for a long time and now I'm very impressed with their new map search engine as well. You can type in the area code and phone number or address of anywhere in the US and it will give you the location on the map or a satelite image. The resouluton of the satelite image is better in some areas than others. It's also cool to look down on your favorite lake, old neighborhood, Washington DC, Central Park, Flordia Keys, Pearl Harbor,or Grand Canyon.

Here's a link to the main map website: http://maps.google.com/maps

Just copy & paste it in your address window and go. It beats all the other map sites hands down. The othe link is a picture of my house. Actually it's labled the wrong house, I'm the second house from the corner. I must have been fishing the day the satelite flew over, my wife's car is in the driveway but not the boat.

Harpo,

I found a great free program that will take the TerraServer images and overlay your GPS waypoints on the photos. You can save the images of your favorite lakes and label all your favorite spots on the lake over the photos.

It will save everything onto your hard drive so scrolling around the new map is seamless using your arrow keys on your keyboard.

ahhh, didn't work! Typed in my address, got a map to come up, but the link ghas a different address. oh well.

You need to click on the "Link to this page" in the upper right hand corner. That will do it.

Had the same thing happen.

Yup, that's my house with the round above ground pool. The is better resolution but you can't toggle back and forth to the street map and you can't click and drag the image to move around. I'm going to spend some more time with the Terraserver. I used it a while back but it looks like they made some improvements.
