Confused - 1990 Deep-V 17

Yesterday I went to look at what was advertised as a 1990 Tracker Deep-V 17'. When I arrived the boat in question had an old decal "Deep-V 17" on the front of the Tracker side console. When I measured the boat it was about 15' L.O.A. with a 6' beam and that didn't seem right for this boat. The owner seemed like a very honest young man and he bought the boat used 3 years ago as a V-17. It was powered by an Evinrude Tracker 70HP. Was this really a Deep-V 17'?

Get the hull number from the back of the transom and we'll steer you to a source of info of "exactly" what that hull is...

I looked for an information plate on the transom, but couldn't find one. The boat had recently been repaired with new pressure treated plywood in the transom.
