BRUCE:
Hehehe.. Ever take on water without a bilge pump period?? My dad and I were out fishing once and realized that the plug wasn't tight, and we had taken on quite a bit of water.. We didn't have a bilge pump, so he just walked up to the console, fired up the motor and we proceeded down the lake.. He looked back at me and said "Pull the plug." Not knowing what would happen, I was like "WHAT??!?!?" He told me again, so I reluctantly pulled it. Of course, the water was evacuated QUICKLY and I learned another boating trick!
ALL;
I went out to look at that 87 TX-17 again last night, and the guy was a no show.. I told him the night before that I'd be there at 8:30 and he said OK. He wasn't there... A neighbor said "Well I tell ya whut, man, they's no tellin' where he's at... Knowin' him, he's lible t'just furgot about'cha..." Super!! The neighbor said he'd be sure and tell him I was there, so I tried to act a little aggravated/disappointed, and made a few really subtle comments about it being quite a drive out there and stuff like that.
Anyway, luckily it isn't really his boat anyway, it's his dad's. His dad is apparently on a fishing trip to Canada right now, and will be back Sunday. I'm gonna make the no-show guy sweat it for a while by not calling him back... He wasn't responsible enough to get MY information, so he can't contact me. I'll call the REAL owner Monday, and set up another time to come look at it... I'll be sure and mention that I'd been there before, and didn't get to...
Maybe he'll feel bad and cut me a deal!
BTW, this guy isn't a kid either... He's in his mid 40's, so he's probably just plain irresponsible...
