If you had the choice of choosing either the 929 or the 911 which one would you choose and why????? Pro's & Con's with each......

Tough choice! If either was given to me or won, I'd go with the 911 for the center console option, other than that and the price, I don't see significant differences between the two. I'd be happy with either :)

Ditto on the 911. Center of gravity can only help with hole shot and dry ride. Plus it would help when fighting open water fish to be able to walk all the way around the console. But whatever boat you pick Buzz, I'll be happy to fish with you! LOL Just keep me away from the TM!

The 911 hands down. I have ridden in both of these boats and feel that the location of the weight in the boat (passengers included) really balances it out in the rough stuff.

The rod lockers have no consoles attached, you can sit on the end of them and land fish either side of the boat.

Guides should love it with the 4 across seating.

The hole shot is not that great, but I didnt have a hydraulic jack on mine.

The sheer width of the 911 takes some getting used to.

I'd take the 911 just 'cause it's COOL looking! I've seen very few center console bass boats (I remember a model 10 odd years ago can't remember if it was Skeeter or someone else). The console is the slickest thing i've ever seen. You would have to get used to driving from the left side of the boat, but hey if you have the $$ why not!

Oh, and Buzz - you can donate that OLD 896 to Treppers HP challenged boat fund!!

Hands off TREP! LOL, Wish I had the funds, I'd buy that 896 in a heartbeat. Hey Mini, was that a HINT? Believe, be if I could afford a 911, I wouldn't be a guide! LOL I sat in one at the dealership when they were new, and you're right, the beam is massive! I think you could park my boat and trailer on the front deck!

911. The 929 is a really nice boat, but the traditional layout doesn't set it apart in any way. The 911, on the other hand, is unique and stands apart. The idea of comfortably fishing four people is very cool. Not having to say "excuse me" to your partner when moving front to back or vice versa, because you can go the other way around the console is also excellent. I'm surprised no one else is doing the center console thing.

Probably the only downside is that the boat seems to need 250hp to make it perform on par with other big boats.

Mini, what prop were you running when you had the 911? Think it's a good candidate for a hi-five?

Rich, I seem to remember a couple of other mfr's trying the center console design, but nobody could make it work the way Tracker did with the 911. Can't recall who it was though.

I have scene and heard of stress cracks where the console meets the cap. Will the center console design eliminate these cracks? Maybe another advantage..

I aree with Rob about fighting the fish. I've caught many Stripers out of a center console and being able to just run around the boat is awesome.

911....i like new and eciting engineering so that is the boat to be in...Maybe an Avalanche too!

now if they could only bring the price tag down here in Canada.

Pierre

Pierre, did you drive Jim's Avalanche? Man, that thing was SWEEEEEEET!!! No offense, but it blows an 882 away. NOW is I can justify the extra $2k for a tin boat!

Rich,

I ran a 23 pitch trophy plus. The high five would be a great candidate for that boat and there are a few in the area running them. I tried to run one on my 96 Astro and didnt like the low speed manuverability. As you are approaching a dock and put the boat in reverse it will slow the boat down at idle, but in an emergency situation if you goose the throttle the prop would cavitate and not slow the boat at all. That worried me....

Others love the high five, good hole shot and great in turns and the rough stuff....

Mini

OK Mini and Rich - What's a High Five?

5 bladed prop built for Mercs only. Awesome hole shot and stability, but usually gives up some top end. VERY expensive prop Trep. Only for bigger outboards.

So I get the handicaped (or in today's too darn politically correct society the Muli-Blade Challenged) prop!!!

Allisons are center console, and they have an extremely light hull, they haul buggy. Very small width on the front deck however...............sa
