While I was checking my boat over last night I happened to notice a bolt on the tongue of the trailer sticking about a 1/8 of a inch above the top of the tongue. Upon further inspection I realized that this nut on the bolt had rusted off and it was just hanging there. This bolt is directly behind the pin that is pulled out to fold the tongue of the trailer to the side . Other than the pin it

Ya' know Tom that is a good point. I'll follow-up a little and add I noticed mine rusting the very first year. I pulled the bolt out and wire brushed on the bench grinder top and bottom. Replaced it with a fresh coat of black Por15 which is the best stuff out there for rust. If it continues I'll replace it with a SS bolt.

krylon has a new paint/primer out there that turns rust into a paintable surface. i have used it on several places on my trailer. minimal prep/cleanup is required. more or less just spray it on and it turns the rust into a black paintable surface. then just go back over it with rustoleum and you are good to go. the couple of places that i have used it still look good and haven't began to rust again.

Well with tube steel outside rust isn't such a big deal its the rust you can'e see. Anyone figure out how to keep crossbeams from rusting through in 5 years.

On the rust subject: anybody ever had there trailers Zebarted? (undercoated from the inside) Randy and I have talked about this and wondered if there would be a market for such a job? Comments please.
