Just wondering if anyone out there has put a Mayfair cartridge pump in, when replacing the old "Rule" pump in their livewell system? It looks like the size of the inlet tube is the same dia. and same threads. I would think it would work o.k. Any imput on likes or dislikes of the Mayfair too. They must be pretty good Ranger I think puts them in their boats. Thanks alot. I'm Ready for soft water again!!

Let me know how you like it. I've been cheaping out and using Atwoods since they are all I can get overnight from Wal-Mart in a pinch. The Mayfairs seem pricey, but usually that means quality. My mounts keep breaking on the Atwoods or they keep picking up pieces or rubber worm and other bilge junk and burning out. And I don't think I'll see soft water again until May!!!! LOL

fish fins tore up my rule pump (they were in there from the previous owner) that came with the boat. i've switched to attwood and been happy so far. i think the mayfairs advantage is the removable cartridge so that you can replace or clean. as long as you don't over do it on the gph rating you should be fine. might check the amp draw also but they should be comprable. of note, the rangers i have looked at are hard piped vs the flex hoses.

Bassman - Been there, Done that, Have the T-Shirt!!!

I burnt my primary livewell Rule pump out last summer (left it running when I beached and the sand ate the impeller up!) I've got a 175 so I swapped both Rule pumps out for the Mayfair cartridge ones. The tube size is EXACTLY the same as the Rules. One went real easy the other took a while, the hoses fit easily but there was little wiggle room and the Mayfair is slightly larger and had slightly different places where the inlet/outlet connections are. BUT have had them in for about 6 months and they work like a charm!!

One problem that I ran into was the placement of the intake relative to the bottom of the bilge... Bought the pumps and was all set but they would not fit in the assigned space... Back to the little red and white ones. bah...
