Went fishing Thursday for Stripers at Lake Ouachita with a couple of my fishing buddies. At about 7am we started catching catfish on spoons about 5 ft down in 35 ft of water. When we got tired and left at 8:30am we had 10 catfish from 8lbs to 18lbs and a 5lb Walleye. Never caught a catfish on a spoon and still don't know what was going on.

Uploaded a picture into my library of the string of fish.

Anybody have any ideas why we would be catching apparently schooling catfish on spoons? The only other thing interesting was that there were a lot of gar breaking in the same area.

Jim,

What a small world, I was the guy at the ramp grumbling because I wasn't able to put any fish in the boat, You three guys were as happy a group as I have ever seen.. Great job,

I know up here in virginia, it is not uncommon to come upon a school of catfish feeding on shad or killifish, i would guess your spoons look like the fish they were chasing. at least that is my guess.
