A while back some folks on here had decided to try out some new cast iron cooking. I was wondering if they wanted to share how it is going with the new ""Tools"".

I'm an long time cast iron user (but not at home for awhile). However, I just came back from a trip to Canada where most all the 'fry pans' were seasoned cast iron. They worked GREAT!

Sauteed walleye one evening in one, and cooked scrabled eggs (that virtually did not stick) another day.

Hey Ed,

I think I may have started that thread when I said my niece was going to buy some for her husband. They went camping for a week and reported to me that they absolutely loved them.

I think they bought a kit from Sams Club. It had a huge frying pan. and two smaller ones. It also had a Dutch Oven and a triangle type thng so you could place any of the pand over an open fire. They told me they found themselves cooking way too much food just so they could cook on the new cast iron stuff.:)

The only cast iron skillet we have left is my my wifes training skillet. She doesn't cook much with it but still finds it aides in my education as a husband at times.

I had posted on here a little while ago to get some tips on using and seasoning the skillets. This is my first experience with them and it has been going pretty good so far.

My only problem is that I got a skillet that is a little too big. I mainly use it right now for cooking breakfast on the kitchen stove. The skillet is too big for the burner the burner is a little tilted so the hot grease flows to the side and cools off too fast.

I wanted a bigger skillet for when I go camping and floating to cook a full meal in. I guess this just means I get to buy another, smaller skillet.

Other than that problem, Ive had a lot of fun with it and enjoy cooking with it.
