Bruce...stick with Shimano..I'm not sure but, I believe those are Plflueger's?

It's a private label by Pinnacle (Silstar) for Cabela's. It's the same reel that they private labeled for BPS several years ago. ('97-ish?) Not a bad reel, but better are available at that price, the one you mentioned included. Just an FYI.

Bruce, I got one last year for a discount. Wouldn't buy one for regular price. Thumb bar doesn't re-engage half the time, has to be "lifted" back into position. I know of a lot of others who had the same problem. Definately not even close to a Curado.

I'll second the consensus. Got one earlier this year, no where near as good as my Curado's.

Dan J, that's an awesome observation. I thought I was going to die when BPS stopped selling that brand of its Rick Clunn reel, however pinnacle/silstar is selling it's own version of the reel how, called the pinnacle janis and the pinnacle tetra. I love the reels, especially since they have those flipping switches. I don't remember the last time I turned my reel handle to engage it.

I've got a couple on order from the company now.
