After evaluation I've concluded that the PT 175 will best suit my fishing needs. I'm still up in the air about the motor and need some advise. I'm leaning toward the 50 or 60 HP four stroke. I'd really appreciate positive or negative input/advice.

Thanks to all who respond.

PAMA

Get as much motor as you can afford. As for the 4 strokes, very quiet and good on gas. Plus you can troll them right down.

A 60 HP four stroke on a 175 would be SWEET! I'd be interested on how quiet they really are. I've been told..you forget they're runnin' sometimes.

TEE

Tee I've got a 50 HP Yamaha & have guys waiting to here me start it at the dock & as I leave

they say OH it was already running "^) quite , no smoke , good M.P.H. & will troll at

1.0 to 2.0 all day.

PAMA - Like the boys said " get the most HP you can afford!!!" I've got a 40 Merc 2cycle on my 175 pushes her up to 31mph with me and a light load. Runs 28-29 loaded everytime! Check www.trackerboats.com under the 175 and you'll see the upgrade prices and speeds. As to trolling down, i have zero problem with my 2 cycle trolling at idle (2.5mph on the GPS) but the 4 stroke would be quieter, and less gas.

I have a 40HP 4-stroke on my 2002 PT 175 and really like it. It gets good fuel economy and is really quiet. (make sure you pull the key when you take it out of the water, that way you know that it is turned off)It runs around 28 to 30 MPH. The only thing that I had to change was the prop 14 to a 12 pitch. My dealer did this for me. I love it!!

pama, I echo the other guys,GET AS MUCH AS YOU CAN AFFORD,I have a 60 2stroke it is very good on fuel and i've had no problem with it, I also recomend up-grading the electric motor, my 2001 pt 175 came with a pro 43 and standard mount which is a piece of junk, and it's been to the shop 3 times, the mount was very cheap!!! mark
