Okay this is my question

if I havnt said it enough Im expecting my baby in a couple of weeks(my little Fiber Glass 901).

the boat show deal was something like 700 to spend on exrtas.

Is the special cover that much nicer than the regular cover??? Havnt seen either but would like the opinions of all you fine people. (on the cover my wife hammers me enough and my brother is a tin man so I get it there also).

And I'm think of getting a garmin 240 or the eagle320 any input there.

Thanks

If the boat will be kept outside, get the best cover you can find. On my last boat (Nitro 180), I had one custom made for about $500 by Pat's Boat Covers here in St. Louis. It was a heavy vintl material very much like naugahide that did exceptionally well when it came to both keeping the indise dry and staying put while trailering. Although, I must add, I seldom kept it on while trailering because it blocked my view way too much. My present boat (Nitro 2000) has a relatively inexpensive, very light vinyl that kinda keeps the water out but I wouldn't even think of trying to leave it on while trailering.

I'll be buying a new fish finder/GPS in the near future. I've been looking over the offerings from Garmin and Lowrance/Eagle all winter. I will be going with Garmin simply because they are so much more user friendly.

I've got one of the custom made/designed covers for my Targa. It's of good quality, and reinforced in all the right places. Important, since I have a walk-thru windshield. It tore very badly after a rainstorm during the first year. From all appearances, it was simply a defect in the material that caused it, since it did not tear at the seams. They repaired the cover in quick order, and sent some extra's along when it came back.

I keep my rig outside all of the time. It has protected the boat well, and is still in very serviceable condition.

Get a aurora boat cover for your baby. I bought one for my 929 after my 9 series cover was stolen . Although the 9 series cover is really sharp looking the cover from Aurora is better quality . The material is heavier and there is reinforced padding in all areas. Anther plus is that they will custom fit your cover to your boat . I had my cover made so that I could keep my seats in place rather than having to remove them every time I put the cover on . Also their customer service is great. The first year than I had the cover a hole developed from rubbing against my GPS unit ( my fault for not taking the unit off). I sent the cover back they repaired the cover and added additional padding for no cost . They also added additional tie down straps for a minimal cost. The best part is that the Aurora cover cost less than the 9 series cover I believe my cover was around $670. 00 and that

This Tom agrees with the other Tom...go get a good cover. I didn't and still don't like the ones that comes from the factory. I have a 2002 cover that come with my boat and it ain't worth two dead flies...just my opinion.

How much are 2 dead flies worth??? LOL I've got quite a few actually, can I cash them in?

Tom Mac,

How in the world did you get your cover stolen. FYI a little trick I use when on the road...I have one of those personal alarms (got it for the wife when she jogs) that when you pull the handle out IT SCREAMS. I put it in an out of the way place in the boat hooked to the cover and sleep well.

My cover was stolen from the side of my house.I normally keep the boat in a fenced in back yard but at that time I was having a addition added to the house so I was keeping the boat on the side of the house. That morning I pulled the cover left off and left it sitting on top of some cans.Came home from fishing that day and it was gone . The kicker is that the contractor was at my house all day long so someone took that cover in the middle of the day . I suspect it was local kids . I have no idea why they took it ,maybe for a tent?I can

Thanks everyone that helps, My boat will be garaged just thought a cover would be nice for long trips to Barkely and Norris, ect.

And thanks for your opinion of the sounder, my bro has the garmin 160 and I like it but like the 240 better do to the res and color(darker) of display. plus they have a small rebate going so guess my mind is made up there.
