I'm looking for a custom boat cover for a 2002 Tracker Pro Deep V-16 SC. Tracker offers a cover, but I'd like a few more options. Most of the web sites I've visited don't offer a custom cover for this boat, the dimensions were changed in 2002 (beam is now 86"). Any suggestions?

BTW: BPS isn't any help.

John,

I have the same boat, 2001 model. I got the Tracker cover and it works fine. The covers through BPS are ok, not great. You might have to go to a canvas shop and get one custom made depending on what extras you want put in it. A lot of guys do that and swear by it. That may be the route that I go when I where this one out.

Thanks for the feedback. What is the beam of your 2001? Is it perhaps 79"? The people I've spoken to about a cover all want to sell me a cover to fit this size. When I tell them it's 86" they just give up.

Great question, I have the one Tracker "gave" me as part of the deal, but when it comes time to replace, it seems alot of money to buy another from them, I was looking for one to just keep it covered in driveway, (storage or mooring cover) and spent over an hour with the sales associate at BPS and never did figure out which, if any, from the floor would work....... isn't the Pro Angler 16 the same beam and length? (they didn't have any covers for that one at the time either, but I was thinking if it had console, trolling motor location, etc, just like the Pro Deep V, maybe I'd try that one...... please let me know if ya find an "off the shelf" cover that works, and good luck

The Pro Angler V-16 is 16'1" length and 76.5" beam, so that won't work. The 2002 Deep V-16 is WIDE! With a 60 hp 4-stroke, top speed is about 32 mph. I'll give this search a few more days, then it's time to order a cover from Tracker. It's snowing today, and it pains me to watch the new boat covered with snow.

yeah, sorry about that, i meant the pro guide v 16, same setup here,(2002 pro deep v 16) but my 60hp isn't the 4 stroke, at the time of purchase i got the 60elpto, happy with it but the 4 stroke's a fine motor. sorry to hear about the snow, and good luck with the search, i guess if it came to it ya could try a tarp temporarily from menards or home depot until you get one, please let me know if you have any luck, mike

John,

Mine is the 86 inch wide. 2001 was the first year of this redo. You are correct that the standard covers are too narrow. Which leaves you with buying either the Tracker cover or the custom job from a canvas shop. Mine has the 60hp but not four stroke. I get about 35 mph on a light load. As far as the Tracker cover, it will hold up to snow if you prop it up from the inside with seats and stuff. However it will only last a couple of seasons if you store your boat outside all of the time.I can keep mine in a garage now so the cover will last longer. I would think the custom covers would be of heavier material.

I had some luck finding a cover, but it's a mooring and storage cover, not towing... As I mentioned, I also have the 86" wide, (2002 Pro Deep V 16) I went to BPS, took a chance, and got the Weather Guard II Mooring and Storage cover, under the category "wide transon bass boat covers" if you're looking in the catalog. Item 20-576-178-00 price was $73.99 size was 17'6" length, 87" width. Strictly for storing in driveway, I guess to trailer I'll have to switch to the Tracker one that came with it. It is a very tight fit widthwise, and after fudging with seats up, down, etc I was able to get it on there with maybe 1-2" over each side, not alot of overhang but we've had some major wind and it seems to be holding up.(and not pooling water) I'm not saying to go spend the money on that one, just letting ya know it seems to be working for me. but IT IS A TIGHT SQUEEZE TO GET IT COVERED WIDTHWISE, very tight across windshield. The extra length doesn't seem to be a problem at all. If you'd like I can try to take a few digital pics and email em to you. Good luck
