I know some of you have mounted boat buckles on your trailers. My question is where did you mount them ? The tie down bracket on my trailer is at a 45 degree angle away from the eye and this seems to be the logical place to mount. Can I carefully bend this bracket to 90 degrees from the trailer with any ease. Thanks for your help.

Beck, here's a pic of my Boat-Buckle mount. Try to get the angle of your strap coming out parallel to your trasnsom or just slightly sloping away from it. Depending upon the metal of your buckle mount, you might be able to bend it, but keep in mind that bending it will weaken it. Most of the time, this is not going to be a problem, but not knowing what type of mount you have, I'm not going to say just go for it. It's your call. Take a look at the BoatBuckle Universal Mounting Bracket Kit before you go to torquing on that trailer. Cabela's has it for $6. As an aside, if you've not bought already, get the stainless buckles. Good luck.

Beck - Like Septic I just mounted mine (2000 PC 175) into the holes in the trailer where the tie-down strap used to hook. Yes Mine is out at an angle but it's worked great for 4 years! I agree with the concern of bending the metal, you create a stress point and an easy place for it to crack/break.
