boat buckle tie downs

i have an 05 tandom axle trailer for my nx898.....i bought some of the boat buckle transom tiedowns....the retractable ones. My trailer style is the one where a metal arm about 8 inches cones straight off the back of the trailer and the attachment goes there. This puts the buckle sideways ( facing the side of the boat. not out the back)..is this ok or should i purchase the universal mounting bracket....there are 2 types on the bass pro web site, which one do i get if any? I used the second choice on my trailer (175 sport) and it worked fine
