Just received my lates bill from Bass pro Bank of america Card.

Interest rate went to 22% from like 7%.

I call and inquired about the increase and this is what i was told.

1. I received in the mail a letter from Bank O America stateing the interest rate would increase if I did not sign and return the letter and agree to stop using the card.

(i do not carry a large a balance and do not use the card often. HAve good credit and pay my bills on time)

I guess I should have read those anoying mailings I get every two days from them.I have never heard of something like this

Just heads up and watch the mail

Needless to say the card is cut up and will not be using a BPS credit card again.

That's exactly why I never took that cards "offer"....Bank of America is as close to a legal loan sharking operation as you can get.....I won't deal with them in any way, shape or form!!

It's a shame what these companies try to put over on the population. Our stuff usually goes in the shredder unread. Guess I need to start reading it.

I worked at Home Depot for a while after retiring from the General. They were always harping on us to push their credit card at the great introductory 15.9% rate. I refused to mention anything about a card unless the customer asked first. I just couldn't bring myself to push that on someone. Hutch

There is an angle here, but you MUST be careful and not buy something you can't pay for. On the GM card you get 5% on purchases (up to $500/yr). As long as you pay them off EVERY MONTH this is just gravy. You just have to have the fortitude not to buy something that you wouldn't have bought without the cash. Then when you go and get that truck, your GM earnings come off the bottom line. I'm kinda old schoole, I don't run a balance on ANYTHING, just too expensive.

Gees, I don't know about the cabela's card ... I'll have to check that out when I get home.

I use my BPS Visa card for nearly everything I purchase during the month to get the points, anywhere from $30 to $50 a month in points, and pay off the balance monthly. But just the same, I called BOA to check on my rate. They went over some of the notices sent out to me, but none had anything to do with interest rates going up on purchases. They confirmed that my rate will remain 9.99% for purchases.

They did say that some of the cards were originally MBNA accounts and some were BOA accounts. They are merging the dates of the two and if you had the same rate for purchases, cash advances, and ATM, the rate was being raised into the 20s for borrowed cash, but the rate for purchases remains the same.

Cabela's Is ok I have never had a problem and get the rewards...I like It...

I'm with Mac on this. It's been so long I don't remember what happened, but they tried to screw Nancy with a fast come on (but read the fine print) and when I saw she had received one of their cards I immediately had her call and cancel and I then ran the card through the shredder. Nancy nor I will ever have a BOA card, not even for emergencies.
