Are there any good, scenic bass fishing lakes in or near the Florida Panhandle? or on the way down 65S thru Alabama from Nashville?

My vacation to St George Island is toast because of the hurricane. I may hit the beach for a few days somewhere around Panama City and then try to find a cabin on a lake somewhere for a few days.

Any ideas would be great!

Go to Guntersville in Northern Alabama, also there are other lakes Nikajack in the area.

Stay in or around Scotsboro and then go to the Lost Luggage selling store too. Cheap to stay there too. Nice area

I don't know about Florida, but there are plenty coming south on 65 through Alabama (though most of them are away from 65 a bit). Miller's Ferry (aka William "Bill" Dannelly Reservoir) is in Wilcox County and Roland Cooper State Park are both located near Camden, Alabama. There is also Coffeeville Lock and Dam, Clairborne Lock and Dam, and a good number of state parks and lakes in Alabama. Most (if not all) of the Alabama State Park Public fishing lakes are electric motor only, though.

The links below is for Miller's Ferry and Roland Cooper State Park in Camden.

There is also a state park in Gulf Shores with a large lake across from the beach. I've never done much bass fishing there, but it is a good catfishing lake, and you can occassionally catch redfish there also.

If you plan to take 65 all the way down, I would stop in at Guntersville and fish that lake. I've only fished it once, but I WILL make my way back up there. It is a beautiful lake with some great bass fishing.

Also, here's a link to the Florida State Parks in the panhandle area. Just beware that most of them are probably damaged from the hurricane this past weekend and may not be open. Also, if it is anything like the water levels here in Mobile, expect the water to be VERY HIGH!!! Right now, all of the southwest Alabama water levels are high from all of the rain we have gotten recently.

Come up north and spend a few days at the Classic...We'll boost the profit margins of the local breweries.:p

All that sunshine and sand is highly overrated anyhow..:D

Stop by BPS Worldwide Sportsman in Destin and ask for my buddy Lane. (Fishing Lead) He went to Canada again with us this year and was telling me about numerous local places he'll fish. I plan on seeing him in Oct. when the month long Fishing Rodeo begins. I promise he'll "hook" you up. Good luck!
