If you all could have only 3 or 4 colors to use with plasics, spinner baits, etc, what would they be. I see the endless aray of colors and it seems a bit unessesary. I am out fishing with cranks, spinners, 5 or 6 kinds of plastics, jigs, ect, then factor the hundreds of colors to choose from, how would I ever narrow down what works best and waste time switching around. There must be some kind of base line selection, that is most effective (basic formula). I would figure that is how success on the tourney trail is acheived. What is your basic arsenal?

Spinnerbaits: firetiger.

Cranks: some sort of silver/black combination.

Soft plastics: watermelon (green) with red flakes.

Wooley buggers: Pink!

Soft plastics #2: white or white-ish gray.

Soft plastics #3: 4" finesse worms in motor oil.

For the waters that I fish around here:

Spinnerbaits: Chartreuse

Crankbaits: White or Pearl, Black/Chrome, Blue/Chrome, Crawfish

Plastics: Red Shad or Tequila Sunrise

Spinners: Chartruese/white

Cranks/jerks: clown, blue/chrome, firetiger

Plastics: watermelon flake, junebug, blue/black

Spinnerbaits: Chartruese/white

Cranks: Natural Shiner pattern

Plastics: Watermallon,Green Pumpkin,Black

That would be an easy question to answer IF you only fished one lake and it never had any run off to muddy the water, never had a cloud in the sky, or you only fished in cloudy weather, and there was only one type of forage in that lake, and you only fished during one season, and...........you get the point.

Every color has an appropreate application depending on conditions, time of day, mood of the fish, clairity of the water, time of year, ect. ect. ect. It's up to you to figure out what works best at any given time.
