Tee & Ben:
Thanks for the info guys. I found fish and also found the Marathon gas station (cheap gas, snacks, drinks, etc. 5:30am to 8pm - nice folks) up the road from the DH Resort.
Night fishing is the only way to work that lake when the water is gin clear and 81 degrees surface temp. We worked Goat and First Island's weeds with 1/8 and 1/4 oz hair jigs and either pig or plastic. Buzz baits and Pop R resulted in small bass and bluegills. Lots of time between catching fish. Only boated smaller ones but lost some nice fish. (Typical fishing tale).
We were really fogged in Wednesday night and just worked our way down Wolf River and the same combination -deep water, weeds, and rock bluffs/points - worked well.
Tee, I could not locate the bait you recommended but I'll have some before we go back down.
What a great lake. By the way, I was glad to have a GPS to help me find my location at night and even during the day.
Talked to some locales at the ramp and they did very well. Seems that familiarity with the lake helps your catch ratio. We are plannng our next trip to improve the catch ratio.
Thanks for the info guys.
