Aqua Vu Camera - ethical during tournaments?

This has come up before, but I've now seen it for the first time.



This weekend, we had many more boaters than non-boaters, so we had 6-7 boaters fishing by themselves. Many made references to 'Jacques Costeau' out fishing. That meaning our Club President had his aqua view out with him, actively using it during the tournament.



This is NOT against our rules.



Question is, do you think it ethical?



My viewpoint is that if you want to use a camera to assist you in locating/learning fish and their habitat, while pre-fishing; go ahead and do it.



I do not think it very ethical to use it actively during a tournament.



And yes, we had lot's going on this weekend.

I look at it this way, while they are using their aqua-vu I have a line in the water. So for me they can use it all they want during a tourny while I am actually fishing. They may locate Bass but they still have to catch them. Just my thought on the ethic's of using a aqua-vu during a tourny. So in other words it is fine my me.

Yes to pre-fishing NO in a tournament if we don't watch it fish boxes will be legal, sooner or later skill will be taken out of a tournament!! Sounds like you have to amend your bylaws. Sorry just the way I feel my .02 worth. I see in another post that he tried to use dryed shad in another tournament. Sounds like you should elect a new pres.

I would say no, but have him come use it in the lakes we fish our tournaments on - 1' of visibility is gonna make it real tough on him.

Fishing a tournament to me means; Trying your best tactics and strategies seeking that big bag of fish. Looking at fish is for the researchers. How could someone look at a fish 25 yards away anyway?? The only time that I have ever seen the view have rewards is in ice fishing. I think that the view could be left at the store.

Using the Aqua Vu camera is kinda like high fenceing deer in and then hunting them. It should all be based on luck, hunting and fishing.



I dont care about it for fun fishing but in a Tourny thats a big no.

I have to say no. I have one and the club i am president of has no rule about them. Have i ever brought it to a tournament? NO. I just don't feel right using one in a tournament. I think it takes up too much time. even if they were allowed i prolly wouldn't use it much.
