Anyone install a Flat Foot for Trolling Motor Foot Control

Has anyone installed this type of Foot Pedal recess, I saw this on a club memebers 1996 Champion and he istalled it without any problems.

To me it looks like an accident waiting to happen.

It looks like a little too much room to me.I recessed my pedal into the deck myself.Left about one inch clearance the whole way around.(No twisted ankles)

It only took about two hours,using stuff I had around the house, and actually was alot easier than I thought it would be.

It looks like it would save some room and, more importantly,

be more stable. Especially in regard to the thread about falling overboard. BUT, I move my foot control around all the time depending what side of the boat I am fishing from.

If you start cutting holes in your deck you better be sure the placement is comfortable for the way you fish.

MOST pedals are mounted to the center of the deck. I would like to see one in person, it doesnt look like the mounting flange is big enough, or that there arent enough screws holding it in.
