Has anyone had experience buying from ebay? I am considering bidding on a Lowrance or Garmin fishfinder. They seem to have them on there every week. I should be able to save a minimum of $40-50 on a new unit based on what previous auctions have gone for. Any comments would be appreciated.

Bought a 'bird there last year. No problems. Especially if you're buying from a business. Look at their review for feedback. Good luck.

I've purchased there on and off for the past year and a half. Overall, pretty good service. Watch if they say 'like new' versus 'new'. As Rob has said, it they have 'many' transactions, with good feedback, then you probably don't have much of a worry.

One note though, don't get caught up in the frenzy of the bid. It's very easy to do, even on-line.

Also, do a search and see if you can find a dealer that sells through the internet. I purchased a Garmin NIB (new in box) GPS from a dealer in Las Vegas and got a pretty good discount over anything that I found elsewhere.

Good luck.

I have bought quite a few things at ebay from both individuals and business. The transactions have been real good but the used products were sometimes not as nice as claimed. Rob is right when he said check the seller's feedback to see if folks are happy with the seller or if they have a lot of complaints.

Bought from EBay? Just look at the walls in my house. I think my wife is looking at her 225th buy at the moment! Don't have any experience myself...can't afford it! LOL!

Most of my purchases have been CD's that I couldn't find anywhere else. They have always been as advertised and arrived promptly. The people I delt with always had long lists of positive feedback.

In most cases, by the time bidding was over, I had a "good buy" but not a "great" one; although, to me, a couple have been "absolutely fantastic" because I got some obscure CD that no one in the world wanted but me!

Only once have I bought anything of an electronis nature - a Tuner matched to the Amplifier I already had. The seller again had very good feedback. It works well. However, the internal power source doesn't maintain a charge long enough to keep the quartz tuner set on my favorite stations if I don't turn it on for a couple of days. This was not something that I would have expected the seller to be aware of since he is a business.....

But I will not buy anything electronic from the site again as it is just to difficult to guarantee condition.

me!

i buy and sell on ebay.get a lot of my fishing stuff there and sell some of it also.bought my son a gameboy for christmas on ebay.

as for all the deals ive done, only got almost stuck once, got the insurance check 2 months after the deal went through, they blamed it on 9-11,which i found very hard to believe, only 1 bad sale, they never paid, but sold the same item later at a higher price.

check the feedback religously.look for negatives,if any.read the comments of both parties involved.then make your decision to buy or not.look for payment options, they have fraud protection through paypal and ebay online payments where you can get almost all your money back, well less $25.

hey,i bought a car off ebay!!well, for parts that is,exactly as described.

bid what you want to pay for it right off the bat, then let it ride from there.if someone wants it bad enough they will outbid you for it.

I bought my 98 Nitro 185 there for about $1500 less than bluebook. It is missing minor things like keys for compartments, lights and ski bar. The engine was like new. I might try it again someday but I was scared while driving 850 miles to pick it up. I was releived to see the pictures were accurate and there were no bad surprises.
