I am looking into buying a portable shelter to cover/house my boat. At least for this year. Will be building a garage for it next year. I hope.

I found these at Overtons. But was wondering if you knew of any others

Thanks

John

Last year after I widened the driveway to accommodate my boat year round I looked into getting shelter. After extensive research on the topic I ended up going with a winter shrink wrap and putting the boat in storage. Then when spring finally comes to New England in later May get the boat out of storage and keeping the boat cover on during the warm season.

We decided that we are not going to stay in this house long enough to bother with adding on another garage, so when we build another house in 5 years it will have a 4 vehicle garage.

During my research I came across a very nice shelter that is available in different sizes at Costco. I think there is one in your area so it might be worth while to check it out.

Before I had the garage space, I had purchased one from Overtons. I bought the round topped one with the double zippered front door. I also bought the screw in the ground anchor system. They are quite strong and stand up to high winds and heavy snows. It was always 10 degrees warmer in the shelter than outside. If you were in the Illinois area I would sell you mine cheap because it is just collecting dust. Only used it one year. They work well.

John, A lot of people around here have these type of metal car port structures. I've seen them advertised for $795 which wouldn't include the concrete floor.

John,

I have the 12 x 24 x 8 version of the Cover-it shelter. It is holding up pretty good through the last two Vermont winters. The nice thing is that most areas do not require a permit to put one up. I purchased mine through the Cover-it website (www.coverit.com). Later...

Here in S.C u can get a nice double carport like the one in the pic above all metal far $600.I have one, caravan in side boat on the other.....20 X 18.A boat cover can cost that much.

thanks every one. Can't put up a car port without a permit. It is along side my huose so any perminent structure requires a permit. Any way to make a few more $$$ for the County. Portable Shelters that are anchored to the groung are OK.

Will check them all out before I buy one.

Bruce, I am in Park Ridge Illinois. I misspoke on my earlier message and said I had gotten mine from Overton's. I actually went factory direct and bought mine from Cover-it. It cost me $500.00 and would sell mine for about $300.00. It's 12 feet wide, 8 feet tall and 20 feet long.
