Attended my local bass club meeting last night, and got information on lake access that is very pleasing.
This past year, with the extended drought down here in the Carolina's, a number of the lakes on the Catawba river chain were effectively closed due to low water conditions. In short, the authority (Duke power), determined that the water level was too low to safely launch a boat. Lake Wylie, my home lake, was closed for almost 2 months.
Several anglers here really got in an uproar, because they had launched and fished the lake at much lower levels before. You just had to be careful.
Turns out that for public waters, local authorities cannot keep you from accessing the river/lakes completely. In short, they must allow access.
Mark one down for the good guys!
