Fished out of Pirates Cove in NC with 4 friends yesterday. Lines in at 7:24 AM with a limit of 21 tuna all between 30-50 lbs by 9:18 AM. Dolphin fished the grass mats on the way back in and put 9 gaffers in the rest of the air space in the box. On the dock by noon.

700 lbs of yellow fin tuna.

Great trip!

Mike

Wow am I envious. The only tuna we have around here is at HyVee. (local grocery). You know the old saying "You can tune a piano but you can't tune a .............."

Ok wow. Looks like a lot of fun. What do you do with all of it now? In other words how much did you personally get to keep, If i may ask, and how do you cook a big tuna or how do you prepare it. Also how long does it keep in the freezer?

Looks like some beautiful Tuna Steaks to me:) Way to go Mike. It looks like you had a great day.

BTW, Did you have to pay to have all of those fish processed or what?

Uncle Billy

Took us 2 hours to strip and fillet them at the cleaning shed. I have a broom pole slit that I put the skin in and roll it back to the tail. Very quick and saves your hands.

294 lbs of just meat.

I kept 120 lbs of it as these guys don't have room. Vaccum packed it at home on Fri. Shopper's had tuna steaks for $7.49 a lb this AM. That's $898.80 worth of fish? Paid for my trip.

Tuna steaks:

Vaccum packed they keep for over a year.

to prepare

Old time butter/lemon on grill. (ok)

or

Soak in Italian dressing for 1 day and grill. (we like this)

or

Cut steak in four pieces and bacon wrap for grill. (we like this too)

or

Thinner steaks and W'shire sauce and soak for and hour then grill till done. Makes great sandwiches with a slice of cheader, and tarter.

or

Cut steak into six pieces, drag thru Uncle Buck fish breading. And you have tuna bites.

Everyone likes these!!
