I have read some posts in the past on brakes causing wheels to get too hot on 9 series trailers. One I read said to have caught fire. I worry of this with my boat trailer. My 2003 929 seems to get too hot on the braking wheels as well. They get right at the point of being too hot to touch. Non braking wheels are cool. I replaced my calipers, rotors, and pads and still experience this. My question would be do I possibly have another problem in the braking system or is it normal to experience heat as I described and the smell of pad. Thanks in advance for any info.

Well, I am beginning to be an expert on 929's braking systems!!LOL!! Ask CIII how hot my brand new brakes were/are getting!! Your next check after the actual bake assmbly is the actuator in the tongue. They are notorius for going out. Teddy's last 2 boats had them go out in the first year. Next would be the solenoid. The only reason those brake axles are hot is either the brakes dreagging or bad bearings. Are both sides hot?

Tox's brakes were so hot when we made it to the ramp, that I you could smell them. The rims were jsut under the temp limit on meling the bearing grease!

Smokin Joe HOT!!!

YOu all fixed up now Tox?

The real story is that Tracker installed the wrong brakes/roters on all the 929 Trailers.

I was told this second hand from a guy that lost his breaks on his new 929.

So I called the Service Center to confirm and was told that all 929's should have vented rotors and they do not. Whoops!

Call your service center and do a warranty claim.

Good luck.

Had the same problem with my old Champion. I had to relpace the entire master cylinder/actuator assembly after only two years.

Yeah, they worked fine. His were bad pistons in the actuator. Both were warranty work. On one rig he lit the brakes on fire. Mine as it turns out, are getting hot because when the marina replaced the safety cable, they did not put the tongue rollers in securely (I guess it is very difficult) and my brakes were staying engaged. It is still at the shop now.

Better than what mine did. 2004 929 and the calipers fell off!

Rubbed a hole on the inside of one wheel. All the bolts just fell out of the calipers!

I have a great cure though....take those suckers off and throw them into the trash, put a bolt in the actuator in the tounge and plug off the lines.

I feel very little difference in stopping power but then i tow with a F350 Ford so.....

Just my .02
