90 elpto motor squeak

my 90 has started to squeak like a fan belt on a car

its a 2 stroke non optimax

can only hear it at idle in neutral or in gear .. i dont hear it with the muffs on but the exhaust noise out of the water is much louder



just tryin to find out is anyone else has heard the same squeak

i know its kinda hard with out hearing it

I had the same thing with my 115. It was the drive shaft bearing right at the bottom of the engine. Seems to be fairly common based on a quick Internet search, it just needs to be lubed. I sprayed silicone where the driveshaft passes through the cowling on its way towards the lower unit. Spray the driveshaft and bearing/seal right under the engine both inside and outside the cowling. No more squeal and I do this once a year now.

i have read some on the net but all i could find was about the 4strokes mercury w/ the Yamaha stuff

i'll try this tomorrow since im fishing in the morning

can someone help a dummy like me out and give me a pic of where to spray

i just looked for 30 mins and cant find anywhere to spray ..looks like its all sealed

in the drive shaft area
