Was just cruising and looking at boats on iboats.com and found this! A cert for a '02 896 the way you want it for only $20k. The boat lists STARTING at $24,600 I believe. Now I wouldn't want to take away a sale for Markey there, but dang, that's a sweet deal for anyone looking. I wish I had the funds or this post would have read, "I got a NEW 896". But alas, not yet. Anyway, FYI for you guys shopping right now.

Sorry, they start at $22,600, but that's bare bones. So I imagine so is the cert, but you automatically save $2,600 that could go towards a motor upgrade and tandle axle trailer. Can't go wrong! Man, I need to win one of those certs. How come all the tourneys I fish give away Rangers and Skeeters?

I've read a number of posts on the "other" board on buying/using Certificates for boats. Do a search over their and you'll find a lot of long threads. It seems, just from reading, that the problem is finding a dealer that will a) accept the certificat, b) NOT try to squeeze every penny in extra charges out of you since they are not making money but have to provide the time, prep and delivery of the boat.

Ken - How does it work with Tracker, since they are fixed priced boats to start with, are there the same "issues" with a dealer not wanting to deal with someone with a Certificate?

i would definately want to make sure that certificate is valid! been lookin all year and seems when the right boat comes along it sells too fast or monies too tight. i think i read about a tourney in tx where they were giving away an 896 as first place, and i think (2) 896 if driving a nitro in the tourney. if you already were driving an 896 that would mean you could have (3) 896's on the same day. what a terrible problem! maybe this cert. was from that tourney.
