882 steering cable

has anyone replaced the cables on your boat..... does not look too hard.... I do have one question.... do I pull it through the helm side or from the motor side.... any tips would be great... Thanks...

My cable got stiff real fast, So I installed hydraulic steering on my 882...best thing I ever did.
