You know after reading the article in Bass & Walleye Boats magazine on the 175...I come to the conclusion that the article was good overall but, they put the 75 Optimax on the back for the test. Why would they do that ? They even went as far as even saying that the 50 HP four-stroke would be a better choice.....duh.

I've been getting this mag for over a year now and really wonder about some of their tests. First off even though the 175 outsales the 185...I think the 185 would have been a better choice for the test. Shouldn't they have done it with the largest boat availible and let people do the math if they want the 175 instead. Especially for the price difference. After looking what it cost for a 175 w/75 and a 185 w/90 combo is only 1400 bucks. Easy choice for me;)

Also I have ridden in the 175 vs. the 185...no comparison.

The 185 handles waves much better than the 175.

I also believe that if Tracker would get with the program and get rid of the wood in the decks and replace it with welded aluminum decks, make the beam at least 87" and make the bottom wider accordingly for stability...Tracker should have no problem putting a 150 on the back!

Now that's whatimtalkinbout!

Tee I agree about the engine. Look at the "price as tested." That combination doesn't make sense. BPS might have asked them to try that combo for publicity.

Really...17K ? Shoot get a 185 with a 90 for 14K...It doesn't seem Tracker had any input on this one....if they did...get rid of that guy;)

I know on my pt175 the 75 was a good combo. It did seem a little heavy for that boat at rest. I bet the optimax was really overweighted for that boat.

I would like to see them make a boat like the Triton 197 mag. I think they will some day soon.

hey tee if they made it 87 inches wide with a wider bottom... THEY DO... its called a tv 18 and it can handle a 150 on the back. there tests are shady at best.

Seriously Mike....They actually need an old ex toolmaker/engineer like me to show em' how it can be done. I also agree that the 197 Mag is onebadassboat:D

As far as the TV18 in comparison...there is none IMHO:huh:

And they are not the same hull....the TV18 is made on a shallower Deep V and the Pro Team is a mod V:rolleyes:

tee,

i just meant the specs are what you asked for. i know there is no comparision to the pt series and the tv boat. thats why i had to look elsewhere for my boat, that and i damn near stole it from the dealer.

mike:D

I'm so jaded by industry/hobby rags that I can barely get through the articles any more. Good for specs and pictures, but the writing has gotten so advertorial, you just can't place much faith in the opinions.
