This engine has had carbs rebuilt, fuel pump updated, new oem plugs all completed by nitro techs. It runs superb on plane. At idle it wants to bog down and the idle just drops until the engine dies. Look for solutions before the techs break the bank!

When it dies it just slowly drops rpm from 1000 to about 400 to 600 in a matter of about 10 seconds. I can prevent this by popping the choke twice, I have done this several times and the engine will not come back to idle?

THe engine will re-start easily, I do not have to use the throttle. I may or may not have to pop the choke?

I also have a 150 XR6, it likes to be level when idiling or it also dies. Seems to be worse on soem days then others..go figure. I guess my motor has a personality!

Bob,

I spoke to Mercury about running 91 or 92 in my 115 and they stated DO NOT. Only run 87. They stated it will cause problems and they will not warranty motor. Now I am not a mechanic, just stating what they told me. They also stated use the plugs recomended in the manual not the cheaper ones. I know for my 115 I can get NGK's that will run in my motor for about 3 bucks a piece, but was informed that the motor will not run correctly. The correct plugs for my 115 run about 13.00 a piece. Perhaps Geo is running the incorrect plugs..

The plugs that were replaced by the nitro dealer so I would think they put back the oem plugs? I'm going to check as much of this out tomorrow I hope something works :}

PM,

I am not saying that NGK's are bad,, but that are 2 different types of plugs that can be run on the 115 as an example.. One is the EXACT correct replacement the other will work, but can cause problems, its a cheaper plug,

( non - resistor type ) I was informed from Merc and Nitro that the cheaper plug can cause performance issues.

I took it back to the dealer and they went through it again, set every adjustable screw back to factory specs and started from scratch with the manual. We had to make some minor adjustments when we got it in the lake, but the idle problem seems to be fixed :} Thanks for everyones ideas! GO NITRO!!!
