What can I do to get it to loosen up. Tight under low and high speeds. I have a 05 mercury xr6 150hp. Anyone go with a hydraulic steering system for this boat? If so, what kind, costs, easy to install?? Thanks,
Dave

Hydraulic steering the only way to go. The cost will be for a Sea Star system about $800.00 to $1100.00 that's with the pro hoses, however they do make a cheaper kit called Bay Star that's only good up to 150h/p . As far as the install go's you might have to remove the motor from the boat to get the cables out of the steering tube then you can pull the cables out from the helm and attach a pull line for the hoses.

If your stearing is really hard one of your staring cables could be broken or just need to have the cables lubed .
