LONDON, England (Reuters) -- A British family's holiday was rudely interrupted when a 30-foot (9-meter) whale crashed onto their sailing boat off the east coast of Australia.

The 10-ton humpback whale leapt out of the water and pulled the rigging and mast along with it as it slid down the boat, British media reported on Wednesday.

Hey Mike,

Haven't you ever been deep sea fishing?? Believe me, whales can "come out of no where". I've had humpbacks and blue's breech right in front of me. When you're not expecting it, it will make you have to change your tighty whities....LOL Whales are probably the most impressive creatures that you will ever see in the wild. Simply AWESOME!!!

In financial leaner times I had a part time job as a lifeguard at the local country club. I didn't see any ten ton whales jummping out of the pool but I sure saw some close to that jumping in.

In reality we had whales rubbing their sides on our ship when I was in the Navy. They are truely impressive animals.
