Took Noah, Eli and Noah's friend Emmett out fishing, hit the spot I caught the larger Crappie this morning. OK so it wasen't the "50" crappie day that i've heard from some folks, but over a dozen fish and 4 good sized Crappie later the BOYS were plum worn out!!! Boys had a blast, boat ran great and I loved watching them reel'em in!!!

Here is Eli with his big Crappie! I cleaned the 4 we took home and then realized I had beer batter at the house but no oil to fry them in :-( The fillet's are in the fridge for tomorrow lunch!!

aughhh! Brings back memories - good memories! Trep that is what I would call a "GREAT" fishin day. priceless. guess that is why i still like crappie fishing as my grandad taught me when I was a kid. good pics.

Nice, Trep!

But no pics of you in the hat this time? What's up with dat?

Noticed the rod holders in one pic, I bought 4 of the same ones over winter, haven't installed them yet.( I think the ones I got are called Lil' Pro Flatliner 260h)

How do you like them? They work good for ya? If they're as good as the price/ease of installation seems to be, I'm gonna install 4 of them this spring. thanks, and nice memories there with the kids, egMike

Mike,

I have the same rod holders. I like them. I have 4 holders and 6 mounts, 2 each bow, center, and aft. Installation was easy and the mounts are small and unobtrusive.

Thanks Rich, reason I bought these was the small, unobtrusive mounts, like you mentioned.

I got 4 flush mounts, and 4 of the holders I mentioned above. What mounts do you have, the surface mounts like Treps pic? I bought the flush mounts but am worried about drilling any more holes than I need to. Thanks for the feedback on them. egMike

Mike,

I got the star surface mount. 3 stainless steel machine screws, lock washers and nuts per mount. It was an easy job.

Mike and Rich - I put those up front (i've got the Attwood trolling holders out back) for stripers, they work great! Rich did you have to drill thru the gunwales for the center post? I had to, otherwise the rodholders didn't screwdown far enough to hold them well. I wanted to make sure if a 30lb striper took a run i'd not loose it (I know Rob, never in my luck!!!).

egMike, i've gotta post my pic of the big Crappie from the morning, it's on the other computer. But I used the standard BPS baseball cap instead, not warm/sunny enough for the JarJar hat yet!!

Trep,

No, I didn't originally because I really only used them for walleye fishing. However, that is a good idea for larger fish and I may modify a couple of them!

Here is the Crappie I caught first thing Friday am! This monster came on a 1/2 oz blue/chrome XPS rattle trap! Hungry fishies!!!

Nice crappie Trep,

Nothin like springtime Crappies, alot easier to do with my kids too, seems they're (and me too, when I take the kids)happier with some bluegill, crappie, perch, or catfishin' than anything else.

Looks like you guys really had a fun day out there. egMike

Trep - we been telling you about that JarJar Hat. See, you got a regular hat and you catch fish!

Great that you and the boys got out and put some meat on the table!
