Okay guys, I give. For the last 3 months, I've been trying to improve my pitchin' technique. Ain't happening! I'm wathing guys, not on TV, pitch under, around, behind, and just about any other impossible place in the world, while I'm lucky to hit the side of a BIG barn. I know that practice is key to this, but there are only so many hours in a day. I'm practicing all of the time, yard, family room, tavern,(before I was escorted out). Just when I think I'm gettin the hang of it, the birdnest from HE## shows up! BTW, how does line almost down to the spool knot wrap up when you've only pitched 10 feet? Any Ideas other than the keepsake PINK SNOOPY RIG?

CYA, Bruce

This may not help you pitching any, but put a piece of electrical tape in the spool. Pull out enough line to practice with, then slap that tape on the line and reel up over the tape. At least that will keep your birds nests from going all the way down to the hub. Are you practicing with a heavy weight? I started with a 1 ounce egg sinker and worked my way down to a 3/8 ounce and thought I had something going until my father-in-law started flipping an 1/8 ounce bitsy bug on 14 lb line. Just goes to show ya, experience counts...

Keep flippin...

The biggest thing is to relax. Lot easier said than done, but I caught myself so tense and concentrating on the cast I was causing more problems than the reel. I only have a semi-educated thumb anyhow (maybe seventh grade). Put your focus on the target and loosen your shoulders. Helps me. The more you do it you'll become more confident and when you become more confident you will relax more. I just purchased two of the Ambassador anti backlash reels. Had seen them for a while but resisted shelling $100 for what I thought was a gimmick. But this little jewel really works. Tackle shop had them two for one and I decided I could bypass the anti backlash feature if I wasn't satisfied and fish them conventional. I pitched a few times and think a little more weight than normal will be in order, but I tried to birdnest the thing and couldn't. Of course this is alone in my yard with no one watching. I'm confident I can over come when the pressure is on.
