It is almost that time of the year again. Do I need to winterize my livewell system or do I just drain them and that should be sufficient. I do get freezing weather. If I need to winterize them, what is the best way to do it.

You getting freezing temps in VT is an understatement (with the exception of last winter being mild). Make sure all standing water is drained out of the livewell and hoses, including the water lines to the speedo and water pressure gauges. If you have plugs in the bottom of the livewells, remove them. When I am finished with winterizing, I disconnect the two water lines to the gauges and park my boat on the steep incline of my driveway and let all water drain out.

You can also run RV antifreeze through your livewell lines. Don't forget to unhook your speedo and WP gauges to drain or they will freeze and break as well.
