live well won't empty

I have an 02 PT 185. my live well switch doesn't appear to be working...however when the plug is removed it does appear that the live well empties....is this right. Just seem to make sense to me.

I believe you need to pull out or push in the fill spout in the livewell to activiate 'pump out'. I have an '05 PT185 and that's what I need to do.

My 02' doesn't have pump-out....just flip the lever to empty.:blink:

I have the selector that says "auto" and "empty" It doesn't appear to work either way.....Unless the live well is supposed to drain out the main plug hole

"Empty" means that single ball valve is open and will drain via gravity to the waterline or completely when on the bunks. "Auto" closes valve and allows water to fill to overflow for running/trailering without dropping livewell level. Good luck!

My '02 PT185 is the same way. I never use it, but there is always water in it and won't drain out. Hope someone has an answer to this problem.

Click on link below. Unscrew the two mounting screws for selector and trace cable back to valve, ensuring full function. (Open & close) Many times debris can jam in valve and/or cable can stretch or become dislodged making valve ineffective. Good luck!
